Target pattern and shooting performance

For the deer, elk and roe deer tests, the target pattern used is 23 cm in diameter, and for the bear test, the target pattern used is 17 cm in diameter.

In the test, four shots are fired at a stationary target from a position of your choice – upright, sitting or kneeling – at a distance of 75 metres. The time allowed for firing the four shots is 90 seconds from the first shot. A support may be used, provided that the gun is not mechanically locked to the platform. The shooter may attempt a test (roe deer, moose or bear) up to five times in the same shooting session.

Ampumakoe. Deer and stag test. Board.
A moose pattern used in the moose and deer test and the roe deer test. The 23 cm diameter hit zone is marked with a thin line.
Ampumakoe. Bear. The board.
A bear pattern used in a bear test. The 17 cm diameter hit zone is marked with a thin line.

Accepted test

The shooting test is passed if all four shots of the shot series are at least tangential to the hit zone. An approved bear test is equivalent to the roe deer test and the moose and deer test. An approved deer and moose test is equivalent to a roe deer test.

A request for correction of a shooting test can be made. Instructions will be given at the test session.

Price and validity

The price of the shooting test is €20 per test (one test consists of four shots). The certificate of successful completion of the test is valid for three years from the date of completion.

Archery test

A bow test. Table.

The bow test must be taken if you intend to hunt roe deer, spruce deer, red deer, Japanese deer, whitetail deer, wood deer, mouflon or wild boar with a bow.

The spring test is carried out on the removable centre of the moose pattern with a diameter of 23 centimetres.

The bow test is regulated in more detail by a decree of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
