Register of hunters – Change of Game Management Association and change of address

The The Finnish Wildlife Agency keeps Register of hunters. The register contains information on around 370 000 hunters. The Register of hunters is used, among other things, for planning hunter education, advisory services, hunting law enforcement, statistics on the number of hunters, and as an address book for sending the Metsästäjä-magazine and hunting card or the transfer form for the game management fee.

Change of Game Management Association

If you want to change your association or do not want to belong to any association, please inform the Register of Hunters’ customer service.

To make sure that the change will be included in the hunting card for the next hunting year, please submit your notification by 30 April at the latest. You cannot change hunting associations after paying the hunting fee in the middle of the hunting year.

The notification of change must include:

• Name

• hunter’s number

• the current Game Management Association

• new Game Management Association

A person who has paid the game management fee may be a member of the Game Management Association in whose area of activity he mainly hunts or of the Game Management Association in whose municipality in whose area of activity he/she is resident.

A person cannot be a member of more than one game management association at the same time. If a person does not belong to a game management association, he or she is entered in the Hunter Register on the basis of his or her municipality of residence (Game Management Act, Section 15).

Membership of a game management association is valid for the hunting year for which the game management fee has been paid.

Change of address

The Metsästäjä-magazine and the hunting card will be mailed according to the address details in the Register of hunters. The statutory notification of a change of permanent address will update the information in the Register of hunters. The postal address notified to the Post Office is also updated in the Register of hunters.

It is worth noting that a change of address or name that you have entered yourself in Oma riista will not be updated in the Register of hunters.

Address confidentiality order or moving from one foreign address to another

In these cases, the address details must be reported to the Register of hunters:

• old address
• new address
• Name
• hunter’s number
• date of birth.
