Hunting permits

Black grouse. Open mire.

In Finland, the right to hunt is tied to land ownership. The landowner has the right to hunt on their own property and to decide how hunting is conducted there.

Private land

It is very common for landowners to lease the right to hunt their land to a local hunting club. A member of the club has the right to hunt in the areas where the club has a hunting lease.

A hunting club can also sell guest cards, so that anyone who is not a member of the club can hunt on its territory under the terms of the permit.

State-owned land

For state-owned land, you can apply for a hunting permit from Metsähallitus. State hunting areas are mainly located in the eastern and northern parts of the country.
